Case Study

Conversion and extension of two office buildings to residential use within Yeovil Conservation Area to form 3 apartments and 4 maisonettes. The design included a large 2-storey rear extension at first floor level, the tanking and conversion of a basement, and a full layout design complete with necessary soundproofing between units.

The project involved careful compartmentation between units of flooring, stairs and walls to ensure fire and acoustic barriers were in place and sufficient for building regulation standards. Structural alterations were undertaken to restore the integrity of the existing structure and build the new two-storey first floor rear extension from structural timber frame. The new and old flat roofs were fitted with new GRP, and the necessary repairs made to the existing roofs. Both roofs and all external walls were insulated to improve the U values of the property and ensure a continuous vapour control layer to the properties.
