Case Study

Conversion and change of use project of an industrial warehouse unit into a modern gym providing the highest levels of amenity and equipment. The proposal aimed to address the shortcomings of other gyms in Yeovil, and provide an alternative solution to the market.

After we had achieved planning permission the project involved a complete strip-out of the building to leave it’s portal frame envelope. The building was assessed for structural adequacy, provision of insulation, and the condition of the services to/from site. Additional structural bracing was added where necessary and the building deemed fit for conversion.

An inner stud wall was created to the entire perimeter of the structure containing the plumbing and electrical services as well as further insulation the building. Internal partitions were created to provide a reception room, a Part M compliant W.C., an entrance lobby, male and female changing/showering rooms and W.C. facilities, as well as the open-plan gym areas.
